Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

What is it?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling martial art incorporating throws, takedowns, joint locks and submissions.

Adapted from Judo by brothers Helio and Carlos Gracie it fast grew to mainstream popularity through mixed martial arts tournaments where it quickly became acknowledged that who determines where the fight goes stands a higher chance of victory.

BJJ offers a fantastic sporting element as well as teaching powerful self-defence techniques where great technique, strategy and leverage can help defeat a larger, stronger opponent.
