We are very fortunate to have been able to work with the very talented Zaegar at Bruizhaus to create a bespoke bit of merchandise for the club.

The design of this print reflects the connection between surfing and BJJ, and in particular a nod to our unique position on the north coast of Cornwall, where the Atlantic Ocean smashes into the coastline, bringing all its mystical stories and folklore.

Within BJJ as a grappling martial art, you can often feel like you are drowning within any given roll, where your opponent gets the better of you and seems to have arms and legs everywhere. This relentless chain of attack that motivates us to come back and learn more, to pursue the sense of satisfaction of overcoming this adversity.

This is similar in surfing, where you understand what you want and need to do, but the ocean has other ideas and can chew you up and spit you out. The only option is to come back to try again, and the feeling of accomplishment when you manage to harness the power of the ocean and ride the waves successfully is immeasurable.
